श्रीमंत दग्दूसेठ हलवाई मंदिर, पुणे

महाराष्‍ट्र में सिद्धि विनायक मंदिर की तरह भी दगड़ू सेठ गणपति का मंदिर भी दुनियाभर में प्रसिद्ध है यह महाराष्ट्र का दूसरा सबसे प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है। इसे आम बोलचाल में दगडू सेठ का मंदिर भी कहते हैं। यह मंदिर पुणे में स्थित है।

दगड़ू सेठ क्यों कहते हैं? : इस मंदिर को श्रीमंत दग्‍दूशेठ नाम के हलवाई ने बनवाया था। तभी से इस मंदिर को 'दगड़ूसेठ हवलवाई मंदिर' के नाम से जाना जाता है। इसे आम बोलचाल में दगडू सेठ का मंदिर भी कहते हैं।

भगवान शिव का जन्म कैसे हुआ

क्यों बनवाया था यह मंदिर? : कहते हैं कि दगड़ूसेठ हलवाई कोलकाता से पूणे में पत्नी और बेटे के साथ मिठाइयों का काम करने आए थे। उस दौरान पूणे में प्लेग नामक महामारी फैली हुई थी। इस महामारी के चलते दगड़ूसेठ हलवाई ने अपने बेटे को खो दिया था। इस हादसे के बाद दगड़ू सेठ को बड़ा झटका लगा और वे चाहते थे कि किसी भी तरह से मरे बेटे की आत्मा को शांति मिले। उन्होंने एक पंडित से इसके लिए उपाय पूछा तो पंडितजी उन्हें भगवान गणेश का मंदिर बनवाने की सलाह दी।

कब बनवाया था यह मंदिर? : पंडित जी की सलाह पर वर्ष 1893 में दगड़ूसेठ हलवाई ने एक भव्य गणपति मंदिर का निर्माण कराया और गणपति प्रतिमा स्थापित की।

क्यों प्रसिद्ध है यह मंदिर : कहते हैं कि इस मंदिर से ही लोकमान्य बाल गंगाधर तिलक ने गणेश उत्सव की शुरुआत की थी। तब से ही हर साल यहां पर गणेश उत्सव की धूम लगी रहती है। इसी के साथ इस मंदिर में सोने की प्रतिमा और मंदिर की भव्यता के कारण भी यह मंदिर प्रसिद्ध है।

मंदिर में विराजमान गणपति मूर्ति : करीब 8 किलो सोने के उपयोग से यहां पर भगवान गणेश जी की 7.5 फीट ऊंची और 4 फीट चौड़ी प्रतिमा विराजमान हैं। इस प्रतिमा में गणपति के दोनों कान सोने के हैं। वहीं प्रतिमा को 9 किलो से भी अधिक वेट का मुकुट बनाया गया है। इस मंदिर में गणपति जी को सोने की ज्वेलरी से सजाया गया है।

Like Siddhi Vinayak temple in Maharashtra, the temple of Dagdu Seth Ganapati is also famous all over the world, it is the second most famous temple in Maharashtra. It is also called the temple of Dagdu Seth in common parlance. This temple is situated in Pune.

Why is it called Dagdu Seth? : This temple was built by a confectioner named Shrimant Dagdusheth. Since then this temple is known as 'Dagduseth Havalwai Temple'. It is also called the temple of Dagdu Seth in common parlance.

Why was this temple built? : It is said that Dagduseth confectioner had come from Kolkata to Pune to work as a confectioner with his wife and son. During that time there was an epidemic called Plague in Pune. Dagduseth Halwai had lost his son due to this epidemic. After this accident, Dagdu Seth got a big shock and he wanted that the soul of the dead son should get peace in any way. When he asked a Pandit the solution for this, Panditji advised him to build a temple of Lord Ganesha.

When was this temple built? : On the advice of Pandit ji, in the year 1893, Dagduseth Halwai built a grand Ganapati temple and installed the Ganapati idol.

Why this temple is famous: It is said that Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak started Ganesh Utsav from this temple itself. Since then, Ganesh Utsav is celebrated here every year. Along with this, this temple is also famous because of the golden statue in this temple and the grandeur of the temple.

Ganapati idol sitting in the temple: 7.5 feet high and 4 feet wide idol of Lord Ganesha is sitting here with the use of about 8 kg of gold. In this statue, both the ears of Ganapati are of gold. At the same time, the statue has been made a crown weighing more than 9 kg. Ganpati ji is decorated with gold jewelry in this temple.
